WPL 2026: RCB Through to the Finals, the Other Teams Fight for a Play-Offs Spot
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru have made it to the finals of WPL 2026 (Get Your Jerseys). A dominating display against the UP Warriorz meant that the RCB women get one step closer to winning their 2nd WPL title. Gujarat Giants (GG), Mumbai Indians (MI), Delhi Capitals (DC), and UP Warriorz (UPW)—are competing for the final two play-off spots with only two league matches remaining. Who will challenge the 'CHALLENGERS' in the finals? Or rather, which two teams will make the play-offs? We look at all the possible scenarios.
Gujarat Giants (2nd Place, 8 Points)
Direct Qualification: If they win their final league fixture against Mumbai Indians today, they will reach ten points and directly qualify for the playoffs.
Qualification via Other Results: If they lose to Mumbai, they can still qualify if UP Warriorz beat Delhi Capitals on February 1.
The Risk: If GG lose by a small margin and Delhi subsequently beat UP Warriorz, Delhi could overtake Gujarat on net run-rate (NRR), potentially knocking Gujarat out.
Mumbai Indians (3rd Place, 6 Points)
NRR Advantage: Mumbai currently holds the best net run-rate (0.146) among the four teams fighting for a spot.
Primary Scenario: If they beat Gujarat Giants, they will reach eight points and are expected to qualify based on their superior NRR.
Survival if They Lose: Even with a loss, they remain in contention provided Delhi Capitals lose their final match against UP Warriorz. However, a heavy loss to Gujarat could jeopardize their NRR advantage.
Delhi Capitals (4th Place, 6 Points)
Must-Win Scenario: If Delhi beats UP Warriorz in the final league match, they will automatically qualify for the WPL 2026 Eliminator, regardless of the outcome of the Mumbai vs. Gujarat game.
The Three-Way Tie: If Delhi loses and Gujarat beats Mumbai, then Delhi, Mumbai, and UP Warriorz will all finish on six points. In this case, the final playoff spot will be decided strictly by net run rate.
Strategic Advantage: Because they play the very last league match, Delhi will know exactly what margin of victory or defeat is required to progress.
UP Warriorz (5th Place, 4 Points)
The Long Shot: UP Warriorz are at the bottom of the table with the worst NRR (-1.146). To qualify, they need a "special" set of results:
They must defeat Delhi Capitals by a massive margin.
They need Gujarat Giants to beat Mumbai Indians by a massive margin.
Outcome: This would leave UP, Mumbai, and Delhi tied on six points, allowing UP to potentially qualify if they can overtake both teams on net run-rate. A loss in their final match will officially end their tournament.
