The defending champions also achieved two additional firsts — becoming the first side to win back-to-back T20 World Cups and the first to claim the men’s T20 World Cup title on home soil.
255/5 - India’s total against New Zealand in the final was the highest score ever recorded in a T20 World Cup final. It also stands as the highest total in any T20I knockout or playoff match.
250+ scores - India became the first team to register two consecutive totals of 250 or more, scoring 253/7 against England in the semi-final before the final. In fact, it was their third 250+ score of the tournament after posting 256/4 against Zimbabwe — the highest team total in the 2026 T20 World Cup.
383 - Sahibzada Farhan set a new benchmark for most runs in a single T20 World Cup edition with 383 runs. The previous record was 319 runs by Virat Kohli in the 2014 tournament. Interestingly, Kohli’s tally was also surpassed during this edition by Tim Seifert (326) and Sanju Samson (321).

176 - During Pakistan’s Super Eight match against Sri Lanka, Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman stitched together a massive 176-run opening partnership, which now stands as the highest partnership for any wicket in T20I cricket.
92 - India stormed to 92/0 within the first six overs of their innings, equalling the highest Powerplay score in T20 World Cup history. The record had previously been set by West Indies, who reached 92/1 against Afghanistan two years earlier.
89 - Sanju Samson recorded the highest individual score ever in a T20 World Cup final, scoring 89 runs against New Zealand in the title clash.

499 - India and England combined for the highest match aggregate in T20 World Cup history during their thrilling semi-final encounter. India posted 253/7, while England replied with 246/7, taking the total match tally to 499 runs. It also became the second-highest aggregate in T20I history.
18 - Abhishek Sharma smashed a half-century off just 18 balls in the final against New Zealand, making it the fastest fifty of the T20 World Cup 2026 and the quickest in a T20 World Cup knockout match.
24 - Sanju Samson struck a total of 24 sixes throughout the tournament, the most by any player in a single T20 World Cup edition.
33 - Finn Allen registered the fastest century in Men’s T20 World Cup history, reaching the landmark in just 33 balls. The previous record belonged to Chris Gayle, who had scored a 47-ball hundred against England in 2016.
106 - India hit a remarkable 106 sixes during the tournament, becoming the first team ever to cross the 100-sixes mark in a T20I event.
146 - Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett accumulated 292 runs in the tournament at an extraordinary average of 146.00. Having remained not out in four of his six innings, Bennett now holds the record for the highest batting average in a T20 World Cup.
