India vs New Zealand 3rd T20I - A Few Interesting Stats
Team India continued their tremendous run in T20Is with yet another resounding win in the 3rd T20I against New Zealand. The men in blue won the third match of the five-match series by eight wickets with 60 balls to spare and with that they take the series 3-0.
Records were broken left, right and centre in India's run chase. We take a look at a few.
11- Most consecutive series wins (full-member nations)
India are ranked the number 1 team in the ICC T20I rankings for a reason. They are the defending T20I champions and the win against the Kiwis is their 11th consecutive series win in a row (for full-member nations). The streak started in January 2024 when India beat Afghanistan 3-0 and since then India have beaten the likes of Australia, South Africa, England, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, won the Asia Cup 2025 and the T20 Cricket World Cup 2024.
Most consecutive T20I series wins (FM teams)
11* India (2024 – ongoing)
11 Pakistan (2016-18)
7 India (2017-18)
6 India (2019-21)
The men in blue (get your jersey now) have now won 43 off their last 48 games. They clearly are the team to beat at the moment. India have equalled Pakistan's record of 11 consecutive series win.
60 - Most balls to spare in a 150+ run successful chase (full-member teams)
When SuryaKumar Yadav dispatched a low full-toss through mid-wicket, the target was breached and this, with 10 overs to spare. Doing this so effortlessly is outrageous and doing it against a decent bowling attack is scary. The question then arises - How good is this current batting unit? With the T20 World Cup around the corner, the statement Team India have made is loud and clear. They now go with a 'Stop Us If You Can' approach.
